LEADER'S MESSAGE

Hi, Kosmos Friends!

I would like to thank the Coordinators who have volunteered many hours providing activities for our enjoyment this past year. Without all of you we would not have been able to have such a great Club.

We are in the process of setting up our new Board, which will take over in August. All Kosmos members are invited to participate in electing our new 2026-2027 officers on Wednesday, July 8th, at the SportsPage. We are still in need of an Activities Leader, however, so please see the article in this newsletter about that and our General Meeting and Elections.

This month we have three dinners and a breakfast, plus lunch at the new Summer's Hub of Pasco on Burden Boulevard, in front of GESA Stadium. We also have the monthly Movie Matinee, as well as Game Day and Bingo.

Keep your calendar and newsletter handy so that you don't miss out on anything! Other local events are listed in this newsletter, too. I look forward to seeing you this month at some of our activities and meals!!!

Meanwhile, as we celebrate or country's 250th anniversary, may the glory of July 4th be your inspiration for tomorrow! On Independence Day, I wish you happiness, joy, and a sense of national pride.

On July 8 we will hold elections for the seven leadership positions on the Kosmos Board for the 2026-2027 Kosmos fiscal year. But we still need someone to step up to fill the role of Actitivites Leader!

As usual, elections are being held on the same day as our monthly happy hour and dinner at the SportsPage. We encourage as many members as possible to attend and participate in your Club by voting.

If you have an interest in filling any of the above elected roles, you are certainly welcome to run for election! Meanwhile, here's more about the open Activities position:

The Activities Leader heads up planning for our Labor Day Picnic, Fall Frolic, Christmas Party, Super Bowl Party, Saint Patrick's Day Party, Spring Fling, and Memorial Day Picnic, as well as other monthly events and breakfast, lunch, and happy-hour outings.

The Activities Leader attends our Board meetings on the first Thursday of each month. He or she must have access to a computer and have computer skills, and will normally ask for a few Kosmos members to be on a committee to meet once a month two or three weeks after the Board meeting.

GAME DAY OFFERS A VARIETY OF GAMES TO PLAY AND ENJOY

Bev B. is graciously hosting July's Game Day at her home in Richland. Please bring finger food or a dessert to share, and your own beverage. As usual, a wide variety of card and board games will be available, or you can bring your favorite game to enjoy with others.

MONTHLY MOVIE MATINEE

You will be e-mailed or called, prior to the 15th, regarding the choice of movie and the time.

There will be a badged Kosmos host in the theater lobby to greet you. The senior price for the movie that day is $6.00.

Our Bingo for Pennies has been a big hit with members, so Sue R. is hosting another Bingo Party afternoon at the Richland Library.

You will purchase bingo cards for 5 cents each. The money goes into a pot for the winners.

Bring a snack and a dollar's worth of pennies and nickels. Bottled water will be available, but you can also bring your own non-alcoholic beverage.

We meet at the Richland Library in either Room A or B, which are just to your right when you enter the building. Hostess Sue R. will be there early so you will see her at the door.

If you plan to attend the Bingo Party, please call Sue and let her know!

Directions: The Richland Library is located at the corner of Northgate Drive and Swift Blvd., in Richland, kitty-corner from Kadlec Hospital.

THE LABOR DAY PICNIC WILL BE AT A NEW VENUE, IN KENNEWICK

The Kosmos Board has voted to change the location of our annual Labor Day Picnic from Hood Park, in Burbank. to Lawrence Scott Park, in Kennewick, The big picnic shelter at the park has been reserved for four hours on Monday, September 7. The format will be much the same as we usually have at Hood Park, with a social hour first, followed by a meal, with the Club providing chicken. All the details will be in your August Kosmos Konnector.
