LEADER'S MESSAGE
Hi, Kosmos Friends!
September is a time of transition as the colors change and we prepare for Winter. The fields of sunflowers, football, multicolor leaves, and slowing down for school zones are just a few of the things that signal the change of season.
Our Labor Day Picnic at Lawrence Scott Park is coming up on Monday, September 7th. Our picnic is a terrific way to get together and visit with friends old and new. If you have not yet renewed your membership, you will have the opportunity to do so at the picnic.
This month we have three dinners, plus a breakfast and a lunch. We also have the monthly Movie Matinee and Game Day. Keep your calendar and newsletter handy so that you don't miss out on anything! I hope to see you at one—or several—of our September Kosmos activities or meals!!!

Festivities for our annual Labor Day Picnic at this new venue will begin at 12:30 PM with checking in and socializing. The main meal will start at 1:00 PM.
As usual, Kosmos will provide fried chicken, as well as all serving utensils, plates, and tableware. You are asked to bring an appetizer, salad, casserole, or dessert to go with the chicken. We ask that you please have all desserts pre-cut to serve!
Although there is seating in the covered pavilion, feel free to bring your own chairs. The pavilion Kosmos has reserved has metal picnic tables with benches. There are electric outlets, if needed, and restrooms are right next to the pavilion.
Also, bring what you want to drink, but keep in mind that this is a City park—alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Please remember to bring and wear your name tag so everyone will know who you are.
Guests are welcome to come and bring a dish as well. They will be charged a $5.00 fee, or they can join Kosmos that day in lieu of the fee.
Please plan to come socialize at our good old-fashioned Labor Day Picnic!!!
Directions: From Columbia Center Blvd., turn onto Canal Drive. Then turn right on North Kellogg Street (a McDonald's is on that corner). The entry to the park's big parking lot is just before you reach Quinault Ave. The pavilion is next to the pickleball courts.

Sue R. is hosting Game Day at the Richland Library. Please bring finger food or a dessert to share, and your own non-alcoholic beverage. Bottled water will also be available.
As usual, a wide variety of card and board games will be available, or you can bring your favorite game to enjoy with others. Recently, Game Day attendees have enjoyed Rummikub, Mahjong, or Dominoes, as well as games of Hand and Foot.
If you plan to attend Game Day, please call or text Sue so she knows you plan to join in on the fun!
Directions: The Richland Library is located at the corner of Northgate Drive and Swift Blvd., in Richland, kitty-corner from Kadlec Hospital.

MONTHLY MOVIE MATINEE

You will be e-mailed or called, prior to the 16th, regarding the choice of movie and the time.
There will be a badged Kosmos host in the theater lobby to greet you. The senior price for the movie that day is $6.00.
DON'T FORGET TO RENEW YOUR KOSMOS MEMBERSHIP!!!
It's time to renew your annual membership with a donation of $25. If you wish to have your Kosmos calendar and the Kosmos Konnector newsletter mailed to you each month, the cost is an additional $20 for the year.
Membership Forms will be available at the Labor Day Picnic. You must submit a form with your check or cash. However, if your address, E-mail, and phone number have not changed, you can simply sign the form at the bottom and submit it with your renewal donation. Otherwise, please write in any new contact information on the form!

COMING IN OCTOBER: OUR FALL FROLIC & CHILI FEED
Mark your calendars now for our Fall Frolic & Chili Feed, on Saturday, October 10, from noon to 3:00 PM, at Lawrence Scott Park in Kennewick.
At least three tasty chilis will be served up, prepared by Sheryl M., Marsha H., and Anna Mae S.! The Club will also provide hot dogs and buns. Pat N. has offered to grill the dogs! If you have an electric grill you could provide for this event, please get in touch with Donna W.
